Six Departments Battle House Fire In Mahopac

It took responders from six departments from Putnam and Northern Westchester to contain a heavily involved house fire that broke out early Saturday afternoon in Mahopac.

The blaze began just before 1 p.m. on Ann Road, in the northern end of the district.

Mahopac Fire Chief Bill Nikisher assumed Incident Command, assisted by Battalion 16, George Waehler and Mahopac Falls Asst. Chief Bob Trace.

A call was put out for the FASTeam from Yorktown, tankers from Mahopac Falls, Carmel and Croton Falls, the Putnam County Fire Investigation Team, multiple units from Carmel Police and a Paramedic unit from EMStar. Somers Fire sent units to Mahopac Headquarters for standby.

The investigation for cause and origin of the fire is continuing.
